On August 31, ASL held the annual All School Assembly in the Farmer Gym. Head of School Robin Appleby talked about community and this year’s theme, “Take Care”.

She included some quotes from her meeting with Grade 1 students about taking care of oneself. One of the students Appleby met with said, “if someone says they are the boss of you, don’t listen because you are the boss of yourself.” Student Council President Lily Noel (’19) further built on the “Take Care” theme in her speech. She accentuated on the fact that ASL gives students many opportunities to explore different paths.

“Choose something that you love, choose something that excites you,” Noel said.

As per tradition, at the beginning of the assembly, Grade 12 students walked into the gym hand in hand with their K1 buddies. Grade 12 students also continued the tradition where they went to Primrose Hill before school started to watch the sunrise. Appleby carried out another custom of sharing some statistics about the new students at ASL this school year, making sure to introduce them and where they come from.

New student Kylie Murray (’21) comments on her experience joining ASL. “It’s been a good transition, everyone has been really friendly,” Murray said. The assembly ended with a flashmob where different classes and advisory groups among all three divisions stood up around the gym and danced.
