Following the temporary closure of the school and many activities or places being deemed unsafe in London, varied entertainment may seem somewhat scarce. As a result, listed below are a few things to watch, read, or listen to during this time.
A book you can’t put down:
Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Perez
This book is as eye-opening as it is relatable, and many others praise this book as it currently holds the #1 spot of the Ethical Issues genre on Amazon. “Invisible Women” gives an in-depth insight into how society tends to favor men and explores the disadvantages that women face in everyday life. From mostly feeling safe when walking home at night to how well a smartphone fits in their hands, men have the upper hand in so many everyday situations about which many people would never think twice. This is an amazing read for both men and women alike, as it explores the privilege – or lack thereof – of both genders in everyday life. Click here to view the book on Amazon.
A must-see movie:
Judy
“Judy” is the critically acclaimed biopic about the legendary Judy Garland as it explores her career during the year before her death at the age of 47. Actress Renée Zellweger won multiple awards, including an Oscar, for Best Actress for “Judy,” as her characterization of the icon is untouchable. While serious in many aspects, the film does pay homage to the late Garland incredibly as it features many of her biggest hits performed by Zellweger, making it a perfect movie for film buffs or music lovers alike.
