Claire Graham (’21) and Asad Ahmed (’24) design an infographic about human trafficking as a part of the action portion of their workshop "Can You See Me?" The workshop focused on ways to identify human trafficking in day to day life, and it provided anecdotes from speakers who were past victims. “It taught me a lot about the impact of social media on human trafficking and how much more prevalent in our lives it is than I had previously expected,” Graham said.
Maddy Whitman (’22) is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief: Online of The Standard. Whitman spent her Grade 11 year in the role of Media Director and was a Media Editor and staff writer in the two years prior. Whitman loves that she can combine her passions of photography and journalism to create work for The Standard. Outside of her role, Whitman enjoys baking, running, watching Formula 1 and following her football team, Fulham FC.
Sophia Bassi (’24) is the Lead News Editor for The Standard. She began exploring journalism in Grade 6 on the Middle School newspaper, The Scroll, and sees journalism as a powerful way to inform the community. Outside of The Standard, Bassi is on the Sustainability Council and plays competitive tennis.
Emma Lucas (’23) is the Opinions Editor: Print for The Standard. She started journalism in Grade 10 as a staff writer and also expresses her passion for writing in Commonground, Jambalaya and Writers’ Seminar. Lucas is keen on exploring interdisciplinary links between studies, being an avid STEM and humanities student. Beyond The Standard, she is co-President of the Student-Faculty Disciplinary Board and the Model United Nations club.
Vittoria Di Meo (’24) is the Sports Editor: Online for The Standard and this is her fourth year in the publication. Di Meo started writing for the Middle School newspaper, The Scroll in Grade 8 and soon found an instant attraction to journalism. Di Meo loves writing and is excited by the opportunity to shine light on current events. Outside of The Standard Di Meo has tried out all kinds of sports but has discovered she mostly enjoys running by herself to listen to music and challenge limits.
Amber de Saint-Exupéry (’22) is the Opinions Editor: Online and has been writing for The Standard since Grade 10. She enjoys the art of constructing arguments to engage, persuade and perhaps enlighten readers on a fresh perspective. Outside the newsroom, she loves to play tennis and cook.
Grace Hamilton (’23) is the Editor-in-Chief of The Standard. Her love for writing stemmed into a passion for journalism, and she became involved with The Standard in Grade 9. Journalism provides her a powerful platform to inform the ASL community and learn more about local and global perspectives, issues and events. Outside of journalism, Hamilton leads the Sustainability Council, writes creatively and sails competitively.
