Biannually, the PCA organizes a community service day. This year, it occurred May 23 and community members were invited to partake in various activities — gardening, painting fences, laying wood chips — alongside local organizations.
According to Director of Community Action Brandon Block, the PCA partnered with 18 different sites, sending several groups of community members to each one.
One of the sites held a canal cleanup, working with the organizations U/Ocean and GoBoats to eliminate plastic from the water, per Block.
Poppy Willis (’22) attended the Kentish Town City Farm site and said she spent time with younger kids playing with animals and drawing placards for the animals’ names.
Block said he appreciates the opportunity to make a difference and connect with other members of the community throughout the day.
“It’s always a lot of fun to go out and to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty and really make a change in the community and have that sense of connection with other people from ASL,” he said.
