VIDEO Writers Seminar reading showcases student creativity
This year’s Writers Seminar cohort held a public reading event in the Mellon Library May 21. Students in the program worked with author and creative mentor Ben Faccini to hone their writing skills and individual pieces in preparation for the event.

Jaden Gardiola, Broadcast Editor
Jaden Gardiola (’25) is the Broadcast Editor of The Standard. He was initially drawn to journalism as a different approach to language arts, although that has since evolved to include using multimedia to tell intriguing stories. Outside the classroom, Gardiola loves playing with his dog and long walks with a good podcast to listen to. A San Francisco Bay Area native, Gardiola also takes part in soccer and Student Council, is passionate about film and filmmaking and is an avid fan of football and basketball.
Laila Taraporevala, Photography Editor
Laila Taraporevala (’26) is the Photography Editor of The Standard. She began journalism as an editor of the Middle School newspaper, The Scroll and joined The Standard in Grade 9. Taraporevala has a passion for sports stories, profiles and photography. Outside of the newsroom, she is a competitive dance soloist and co-leader of a community partnership. She loves baking, strength training and long walks with music.
