Students get surprise in Code of Conduct assembly

On Tuesday, August 25, the student body received a surprise from the faculty in what was thought by many to be the Code of Conduct assembly. Rather than sitting through 45 minutes of Director of Student Life James Perry covering the rules and regulations of the school’s Code of Conduct, students watched dozens of teachers flood onstage and band together for a musical performance.

The show included teachers from various departments, as well as administrators, sing and dance for 20 minutes, changing lyrics of popular songs, such as “We’re All In This Together” from the movie, ‘High School Musical,’ and “Seasons Of Love” from RENT. The show was not an impromptu one – preparation for it had been ongoing since June, with full rehearsals beginning at the start of the school year.

College Counselor John Reilly said that the entire High School staff was in on the surprise assembly, but Student Council was completely in the dark. Reilly also said that Performing Arts Teacher Buck Herron and Choral Director Lisa Ross as well as Grade 11 Dean Jennifer Craig all had significant roles in the production. Dance Teacher Deborah Hull choreographed the entire performance. The video of the performance can be found below.

*Editors note: This corrects a previous incorrect article that stated Grade 11 Dean Jennifer Craig’s title incorrectly.
