From the London Eye to Buckingham Palace to Big Ben, London offers countless tourist attractions that tend to attract a litany of visitors. Even as a resident, there are numerous sites that are well worth a visit. The following suggestions are the best tourist attractions of which you should take advantage.

Tower of London and Tower Bridge

The Tower of London, a historic castle, is located on the north bank of the River Thames in the City of London. Confined within expansive walls and a moat, the castle features numerous buildings, towers and gardens. The Tower of London has also been utilized for multiple purposes throughout the years, including a political prison, royal palace and The Royal Mint.

Visiting the Tower of London offers a unique take on the city and its rich history, transporting visitors through historical architecture as well as through engaging and interactive stories. Audio and guided tours are also available upon request. In addition to the Tower itself, the renowned Tower Bridge sits conveniently adjacent to the Tower exit and is viewable from the Tower. With admission for adults priced at £29.90, the Tower is a must-visit for those who wish to expand their knowledge of English history.

West End theater

While the West End theater may be a designated tourist attraction for all visitors, this sector of the performing arts industry never fails to provide a novel, worthwhile experience for residents. Whether it be The Phantom of the Opera, Mary Poppins or Wicked, the West End theater – which recently reopened May 17 – always renders incredible shows catered to any audience. Perfect for an evening getaway or an afternoon excursion, the West End theater is undoubtedly a rewarding experience for every resident.

Kew Gardens

Botanical gardens are difficult to top, and the Kew Royal Botanical Gardens located in Richmond are no exception. For those eager to escape the center of the city and experience a slice of nature amid the urban chaos, the Kew Gardens are a must-see.

Upon entry, visitors are inundated by an abundance of flowers and trees. In addition to various restaurants, the gardens are also complete with an arboretum, Bamboo Garden, Japanese landscapes and more. Kew Royal Botanical Gardens are ultimately well worth a trip.

Skylight rooftop restaurant

Skylight igloos are a collection of igloo-style restaurants situated on a rooftop terrace overlooking the city skyline. Each igloo bubble is a transparent dome complete with a table and chairs. The restaurant provides customers table service offering street food, appetizer platters and drinks. Charming and offering a beautiful view of the city, the Skyline igloo restaurants are the perfect destination for those looking to have a relaxing lunch or dinner with friends or family.

Borough Market

Every Londoner has probably heard of Borough Market, the famous food market located in Southwark. The market offers countless food stands selling spices, fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and street food. Each food stand is uniquely decorated and provides a slice of numerous cultural cuisines, serving a variety of items that any shopper will enjoy.

Despite the bustling crowds, Borough Market is well worth a visit for every London resident. Whether it be a weekend trip or a grocery run, it is nearly impossible to leave Borough Market without a bag of fresh food in hand.
