Jonathan Novak, Deputy Editor-in-Chief: Online Emeritus

Jonathan Novak (’20) is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief: Online Emeritus of The Standard. He joined The Standard as a staff writer as a freshman and previously was the Sports Editor. He likes writing and exploring issues in the school and the professional sports world. Novak is involved in the varsity soccer and track teams. His favorite subjects are math and science. Novak has lived in London for his entire life and been at ASL since K-1.

Performance crew team member Leyth Sousou (22) trains on an erg at home. Crew had many races scheduled for the spring season, but they were canceled. Sousou has been able to train six times a week on the erg, but finds it hard be motivated to train without the other members of the team.

Social Studies Teacher Lanting Xu was born in China three years before Cultural Revolution, a period of widespread social reform. During this time, colleges were outlawed and all members of the bourgeoisie class were sent to the countryside to be reeducated by farmers. However, the Cultural Revolution ended before Xu graduated high school, so Xu able to have a future in college.
